| New Year Party Jan 2nd 2007 Stats * Multimedia * Comment Charles Manekias Returned to Shogunz. Demolition started 2007 with a dominating performance. Behind Borwei's 20 points and Kevin's 16 points, Demolition was able to open the 2nd half with a decisive 14-4 run and extend the lead to 12 points. Jaffrey also had one of his better games as he cleaned up the boards for Demolition. The Grove, who had beaten both Shogunz and Hurricanes, clawed back to the game with their heights and full court pressure, but in the end, Kevin's clutch free throws helped Demolition secure their first victory of the Winter Season. Next up for Demolition is PWC. It will be Borwei's official last game as a Canes! Don't Miss Out!!! Jaffrey at the end of 1st Half Buzzer Randy's Nice Pass to Borwei Unfortunately, Hurricanes didn't finish strong against last season's Champ, MJ Remodel. Chanan Saelim was magnificent as he drilled 6 tri-factors to pace the Hurricanes' attack. Ricky Kim also provided 22 points to keep Hurricanes within 2 points at the half. However, in the 2nd half, MJ Remodel began to rain down jumpers from downtown, and Hurricanes just didn't have enough fire power to match with MJ's red-hot shooting, as the home team lost by 21 points. Hurricanes is clearly in a slump right now and will need an energy boost to the lineup. Hopefully, the return of Ed Woo next week will do the trick! On a brighter note, this week featured the return of Charles Manekias, and his impact was immediately felt. His ability to handle the ball really helped Shogunz limit its turnovers and allow Johnson to roam free to a game-high 26 points. Shogunz took control the game early and never relinquished its double-digit lead. Another major key to Shogunz's 2nd victory against Giants was Albert Chin, who frustrated Giant's top offensive player by drawing numerous offensive fouls and pinned a fast break layup off the backboard, back to the center court. If that play was taped, it would surly be the play of the week. Furthermore, Dan Liu had a career night as he scored 8 points and Cory chipped in with 11 points. Shogunz will try to go above 500 next week as they face off the super athletic Year Ups. |

| Good Luck!!! Jan 11th 2007 Stats * Comment In his last game, Borwei scored 11 points in a 30 point win. Game Time on Tuesday (Jan 16) Hurricanes - 6pm Shogunz - 7pm Demolition - 8pm I apologize for the late post!!! I had to finish my B-School applications on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Anyhow, Ocho stole the show in Borwei's last game and scored 19 points. The game was never close as Demolition played a stifle defense that frustrated players from PWC. So much so, in the second half, PWC's leading scorer (who fought Mike Yih once) got frustrated and pulled Kevin down on the floor intentionally. Kevin was able to maintain his balance and pushed the guy (#12) back. Then, one of their bench players charged 20 feet and tackled Kevin. That's when Desmond head-locked the guy who tackled Kevin. The refs were decisive and quickly ejected #12 and that bench player. After the game, they even secretly confessed that they were happy Desmond choked that bench player because that player and #12 were playing dirty. Nevertheless, the fight should not overshadow the 30 point win and Borwei's last game. Chi Lai also snapped out of his slump and chipped in 11 points. Hey Chi, be sure to ask your girlfriend to come every single game. You played better when she's there. Anyhow, good luck Borwei. Come back and visit soon! Ocho for 2 of his 19 points Che finished in Transition Playing without Ricky Kim, Hurricanes got off a slow start and dug themselves a hole in the first half. Che Yii's 14 points helped Hurricanes from being completely blown out of the game. In the second half, Chanan and Victor caught fire. Chanan buried 7 three pointers for team high 24 points, and Victor had his mid-range jumper going and finished with 19 points. With 5 minutes left, Hurricanes were only down 1 points, 64-63, but that's when we ran out of the gas. In the last five minutes, Giant put up one of most explosive offensive display as they outscored the hurricanes 35-6 to finish the game. Hurricanes, still not playing at our full strength, had Ed Woo back for the 1st time. He immediately made an impact both on and off the floor. However, the team, in general, needs to go back to the gym and get into a better shape. We need to be able to sustain our energy for 48 minutes. We have to turn this around soon!!! Shogunz had mysterious and disappointing performance against Year Up, the super athletic team. From the opening tip, Shogunz dug themselves in a hole, scoring their first point only after Year Up had put up 16 points. Even with Johnson's 17 points, Shogunz weren't able to climb back to the game. Overall speaking, Shogunz seemed to have many careless turnovers and did not get back on transition. They need to play with more effort and better focus, something they are capable of. Look for them bounce back next week against the depleted PWC. Shi, don't choke anyone!! Al, #12 is yours!! Dan, don't let anyone score a layup!! |
