| Back to Ground Zero Sep 12th 2006 Post your comment here Team of the week belongs to 2004, as it pulled out a thriller in an overtime win against Dino Raja. Down by double digit in the first half, Ricky Kim's layup completed a 9-0 run and put the team up by one with just 7 minutes to go. Up 9 points with a minute to go, 2004 made many mental mistakes allowing Dino Raja to go up by 1 point with 10 seconds left. After the timeout, Che Yii was isolated at the top of the key and was fouled on a 5 footer with 2 seconds left in the game. He made one free throw to send the game into overtime. In the OT, Kenny Lee hit a layup to put the Canes up for good. Behind Kevin Woo's red hot shooting, Demolition won its first game of the season against Wilmer Hale, the team Shogunz blew out last week. This game was more closely contested than that game, and it came down to Kevin's free throw shooting. In the first game of the night, Shogunz came out flat and went down by more than 25 points against PWC, who was playing without its best player. However, after a couple timeouts, Johnson and Christian led a valiant comeback, but Shogunz eventually fall short and lost by 5 points. Schedule for next week will be available later this week! | That's How it Begins Sep 6th 2006 Team of the week belongs to Shogunz, as they defeated Wilmer Hale with ease. According to Coach Sammy: Anchored by Johnson Lam's all around performance, the Canes-Shogunz were able to pull out a W in their season opener. Shogunz started slow, ran off an early lead and held on in the waning minutes with decent free throw shooting by big man "Scuba" Dan Liu, Lam and Christian "I'm open" Tran. In the 1st half, Lam showed his versatility as he led the team in points, assists and timely rebounds...not to mention fouls (4 at the half). Big men Scuba Liu, Jaffrey and Peter "Hurricane" Tran bumped and bruised and provided all the toughness in the paint. At the start of the second half, some timely outside shooting by MR "I'm Open" and civil war veteran Sam Moy helped maintain the lead, as Lam sat fearing his 5th foul and assault charges from the men in stripes. OG'rs Jwu and Randy Lui provided leadership, savvy and much needed fouls, as there were times the opponents made us look more like Slo-gunz. Wrap-up: a win is a win. As for 2004, despite strong effort from Ricky Kim, it wasn't able to hold on to the double-digit lead and eventually succumbed to two 6-8 Euro twin towers. With just 6 players, Demolition also had a tough night out and lost by double-digits. |
