Triumph!!! Nov 14th 2006                                                                                                  Comment

Shogunz proved their character once and for all. In one of the most inspiring
stories of the season, Shogunz was practically pronounced dead just three weeks
ago, came back from a 2-6 record, won its last two regular season games, and
defeated
2004 last night in the playoff. This Cinderella story would not have been
possible without Sammy Moy's leadership, motivating the team through toughest of
time. Johnson Lam also played his heart out, averaging over 35 points a game in
the past month and single-handedly carrying Shogunz's entire offense.

In the playoff game against 2004, however, the entire team stepped up. Dan Liu
was a huge factor on the boards. Jaffrey Hoey took advantage of 2004's foul
trouble and scored a couple important buckets. Christian Tran paced the game
with timely three pointers. Randy Lui played great defense against 2004's top
scorer, Chanan Saelim, and Myla dusted off his rust and buried 2004 with many
late heart-breaking baskets. In a game that truly mattered, Shogunz came together
as a team and proved they were a better team than its opponent and its record
had suggested. Now they will be the only Hurricanes team to move on and play the
winner of PWC/Giants in two weeks. Congratulation on this spectacular victory!

As for
Demolition, I didn't watched the game and couldn't really give a recap on
the game, but I do know that Desmond Lui scored 10 points and they lost to MJ
Remodel by 7 points. It's no shame to lose MJ Remodel, whom I believe to be the
best team in the league. Nevertheless, Demolition had a great season. The biggest
story of the season is the emergence of Chi Lai, who finally displayed his scoring
ability consistently throughout the season by averaging 17.7 points a game. Kevin
Woo, again, played like the way he always did and led the team in scoring with 24.4
points a game. This season also featured the return of Albert Chin, Alan "Skillz" Yu,
and Jon "Lips" Ng. I couldn't be happier to see these "old-timers" wear the
Hurricanes jersey once again! Shi Mei, the man I presumably had a crush on,
evolved into a leadership role this season and truly anchored the middle for the
size-challenge Demolition. Desmond Lui, believe it or not, averaged 11.5 points
over the last two weeks. The two best moments for the team this season came
when Hing Lin hit a buzzer beater to tie the game and when Chi Lai hit a three
pointers with four seconds left to beat Shogunz by one point. Good job on a great
season. Thanks for playing and I hope to see you guys back in three weeks.

Lastly, to my beloved 2004, you all know how I feel about you guys. I absolutely
enjoyed every moment of the season. It really sucks the way our season has
ended. We have played too well during the season to end it the way it has.
Nevertheless, everyone on the team has contributed significantly to every victory
this season. We even got Ricky Kim to pass at least five times a game! That is
incredible feat by itself! =) I also believe Ricky should be the MVP of our team this
season because he truly cared about winning and he played his heart out this
season. Additionally, big kudos to the leadership and experience that Chanan
Saelim brought to the back court this season. Whenever we needed a big basket,
Chanan
always delivered, most evidently against MJ Remodel when he hit two
three points to tie the game, and against Shogunz in the regular season when he
hit the layup to win the game for us. Also, I would like to thank Kenny and Victor for
the roles they played throughout the season. Both of them could have easily
average 15 points a game, but they sacrificed their individual egos and picked their
spot to contribute. We couldn't have played as well as we did without you two. As
for Che Yii and Ralph Chiang, together, we formed one of the best and most hated
front court among the Canes. It was a lot of fun to say the least. I hope we will take
this loss and bounced right back to win the league next season!

Thanks everyone for playing and for giving their best!! Stay tune for more info!

Shogunz Fell Short Nov 29h 2006

Shogunz came out sluggish, but Giants weren't sharp as well. The game was
closed throughout the 1st half, and everyone on Shogunz contributed to the
scoring. Second half however, only Johnson was able to score, scoring 20 of
team's 22 second half points and finishing 36 points overall. In the end, Giant was
able to hit more shots down the stretch and won the game 61-53.

Nonetheless, this has been an outstanding season for Shogunz, reaching further
than any other Hurricanes team and advancing to the final four. Behind great
individual play from Sammy and Christian, Shogunz will be the highest ranked team
among the Hurricanes going into next season.
