| Demolition 56 Shogunz 55 Oct 17th 2006 Stats * Gallery * Comment What a night!! The most anticipated game of the season was as good as advertised. Behind Johnson and Peter, Shogunz got off a fast start and opened the game with a 6-0 run. Then, Demolition countered with its own dynamic duo behind Shi's 6 points and Kevin's 9 points, and led by 24-14 with 7 minutes left in the half. Down by double digit, Johnson made sure the game stayed close, and when Sammy drained a 3 pointer at the buzzer, Shogunz only trailed by 2 points at the half, 29-27. In the second half, both team switched to some sort of half zone and half man as each team focused on stopping the opposing team's top scorer: Johnson and Kevin. Shogunz were extremely successful with their strategy, as Kevin was only able to muster 2 points in the second half. On the other hand, Demolition were completely unable to stop Johnson, as Johnson ended up going to line 17 times and poured in 36 points for the night. Luckily, Chi was able to come through for Demolition, as he scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half. The game was close throughout the second half, but the edge went to Shogunz as they led by 5 points with 6 minutes left in the game. However, behind Chi's numerous and-1 plays, Demolition came back and took a 3 point lead, 53-50, with 1 minute and 20 seconds left. Johnson then had a layup, and in the next sequence, hit both free throws to put Shogunz up by 1 point with 48 seconds to play. Johnson was then fouled after a great defensive stop and extended the lead with his free throw by 2 points, 55-53, with 29 seconds to go. After fumbling the ball a couple times, Demolition was fortunate to keep the possession. After the timeout with 14 seconds left to play, they gave the ball to Chi. Without hesitation, Chi took a gamble as he rose up and knocked down the 3 pointer to put Demolition up by 1 point with just 4 seconds to play. Johnson had a final chance to reverse his team's fortune, but he couldn't connect the prayer. Demolition clinched the playoff and won the game, 56-55. |

| The other game Oct 17th 2006 Yes, there was another game that took place last night. 2004 was taking on the #1 team in the league, MJ Remodel. This one was a classic!!! MJ Remodel comfortably led 2004 by double digit throughout the game and never once trailed. 2004 had a hard time with their offense, as the players stopped working together and tried to win the game on their own. Down 67-54 with 10 minutes left, 2004 took a timeout. During the timeout, the team addressed the issue of not sharing the ball and came back to the court with a vengeance. The following clips illustrated the great come back, as 2004 went on a 15-2 run to close out the game. Oh yeah, I hit a game winner to win the game, 71-69. That was our only lead in the game. Ricky Kim scored 26 points and Chanan chipped in with 17 points to help 2004 clinch the playoff. PS. I promise that this will be the only time that I shamelessly put my own video on the blog!! It was my first buzzer beater!!! |
